Supporters:
Hawaii Whale Research Foundation would like to gratefully acknowledge the generous and continuing support we receive from the following parties, without whose assistance our research would not be possible:
Dr. Salden's Acknowledgement of Thanks:
I want to thank the many co-investigators and research assistants who have
helped the Hawaii Whale Research Foundation and me. In particular, I want to
thank Jill Mickelsen and David Glickman who have been integral to the
development of HWRF since its inception. Also, thanks to Clancey Greff of
Captain Zodiac who encouraged and help me in founding HWRF. Soon after, we
were joined by Skip Stubbs, Ph.D., Phil Colla, Linda Silvers (DVM), and Doug
Perrine who committed their vast skills and time to the organization. Since
1998, Doug Perrine has volunteered to supervise and conduct our Big Island
operation, which was the first on-going extension of HWRF research activity
in another area.
I have been blessed with many excellent assistants who have given their time
and energy to the HWRF. Thank you: Vicki Beaver, Steve Beresford, Matt
Biondi, Kevin Carter, Aline Schaffar Delaney, Lisa Diaz, Jennifer Durnin,
Bec Eldridge, Melinda Gohn, Bob Heil, Jeff Kalbach, Judy Pascua, Adam Quinn, Janna
Schlag, Tanya Shober, Peggy Stap, Sabrina Sturman, Mikako Kotani Sugiura,
Carol Takashima, Tif Thomas, and Dawn Terminel. I also want to extend my
thanks to my life partner, Delores Edmiston, who in addition to helping in
the field, has made it possible for me to go to Hawaii each year.
For financial support, I would like to acknowledge corporate sponsors such
as: Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Captain Zodiac, Tokyo
Broadcasting System, Sea World, YNR Marketing, Kodak, Epson, Canon USA, and
Fuji.
I also want to extend my appreciation to Deborah A. Glockner-Ferrari and
Mark Ferrari who authorized me as a co-investigator under their National
Marine Fisheries Service Permit #538 in 1988. This allowed me to work more
effectively around humpback whales while my permit application was under
review.
